Fantastic, vintage German instrument here; priced to sell! Made by Frederick August Heberlein, ca. 1907. It features an ebony fingerboard; ebony pegs; ebony tailpiece with four fine tuners; ebony chinrest; and steel strings. Body is 14", and the overall length is 23-1/2". Overall condition is excellent. The original varnish is in good condition, with dents, dings and scratches overall. There are two repaired cracks in the top. These include a repaired 2" saddle crack to the right of the tailpiece, and a repaired 4" saddle crack to the left of the tailpiece (under the chinrest). The center seam under the tailpiece has been reglued and is slightly uneven. There is a chip on one of the corners of the ribs. See Pic. Fine-grain spruce top with a nicely flamed maple back, sides and neck. Great sounding instrument and easy to play! This violin is loud in volume, with a clean, moderately bright tone quality. Powerful instrument, but not overbearing! Even across all strings. Great bluegrass fiddle, but would also be good for other styles of music. Comes with case and without bow. Email for sound clip.
