This is a 7/8 size old German violin, branded “Hopf” at the button and inside. It is in very good condition and has been loved and cared for throughout its life. The varnish shows very little signs of wear. At some point, the pegbox had reinforcement cheek patches put on it, but they have been solid for decades.
As a slightly shorter instrument, it is more comfortable for players that find a full size instrument a bit big. However, this violin does not sound like it’s any smaller—it really carries.
It has been professionally set up by Maxham Violins and is ready to be played. It will be an excellent fiddle for its next owner.
