This fiddle has a repair sticker from W.C Longstreth, Lancaster, Ohio, dated 1912. He was born in 1870 and can be found via Google. Although he built instruments, My luthier believes this instrument to have been built in Germany in the late 1800s. It shows it's age, and has a well done repaid in the upper bout and 2 well repaired, tight cracks from each F hole to the bottom. My luthier went completely through it, installed new Perfection mechanical tuners, carved a new bridge and set it up for fiddling. I just recently took off the Prims and put on Helices. It comes with a well used but solid Tonnarelli tear drop case and I am including a fiberglass bow that I no longer use. This would be a good instrument for a progressing beginner or early intermediate player. Plays very easily, It has years of rosin buildup, grunge etc. on the body but I am sure that can be cleaned up if it bothers you. I have played it a couple of years as a crosstuned fiddle but recently decided to step up to a much better one a friend was selling.
