I just set up another early 1900's fiddle (label indicates a German Strad Copy) with very nicely flamed maple. (The color is very similar to one I recently sold). I took apart the violin to reglue a 3-4 inch section of the top center seam (under the tailpiece) and reinforced the seam with several cleats. There are no cracks or other repairs. There is some minor varnish wear on the upper rib shoulder consistent with its age and use.
This fiddle has good volume and a rich tone which is in the middle of the dark/bright spectrum. It is responsive and plays easily. New soundpost, bridge, tuning pegs, tailpiece, Tonica strings, and a used chinrest. It does not come with a bow but I can add one for $30. I will offer the buyer a choice on vintage cases - wooden coffin or shaped case.
I would appreciate a response if you ask for more pictures or information.
