This is a fine violin made by Daniel O. Smith, Virginia’s finest violin maker. It bears his label, which identifies it as #57, made in 2014. It has a beautiful two-piece back and is varnished with a fine oil varnish. It has been professionally set up and adjusted by Maxham Violins and has a set of Rondo strings.
As is the case with all Smith violins, this one is modeled on Paganini’s most famous violin, Il Cannone. It projects well, has an even response throughout all registers, and speaks with ease. These violins are loved by fiddlers and classical players alike. They have a professional fee and sound and compare favorably to violins well above their price.
