Beautiful Josef Metzner, 1920, Sachsen, Germany violin. Labeled Strad. model w/ beautiful wood(s), flamed maple back with matching ribs and scroll and nicely fluted f-holes. Wonderful balanced tone top to bottom. Recently tuned-up with new bridge and soundpost. The violin is in great overall health with only a very small treble wing crack (see pic) , a 1 1/2" expertly repaired lower edge crack and the normal 90 year old bumps and dings. Great instrument for intermediate or advanced player. Played almost daily until recently. Claire Givens Violins in Minneapolis, MN suggested a $3500. retail price in her shop a couple of years ago.
