This is a fine violin made by Andrash Taras, one of Ukraine’s finest violin makers. It was made for an international violin making competition in 2021 and is an extremely close copy of a fine violin by Samuel Nemessanyi, an excellent Hungarian maker. Every detail of the original was painstakingly reproduced, even down to the antiquing. Seeing it next to the original in photos is quite impressive. Violins made for competitions provide makers an opportunity to showcase their finest work, and this violin is clear evidence of this.
It has been professionally set up by Maxham Violins and has a fairly dark and rich tone with a lot of power.
It comes with a foam case for shipping, although another can be substituted by request at a reasonable price. It also comes with a certificate from the maker.
