This instrument has served me incredibly well and has been my primary fiddle for the past 6 years since I purchased it from the Violin Shop In Nashville.
For those of you unfamiliar with Jonathan Coopers’ violins he is one of the most respected makers in the American Fiddle world. His instruments are played by a myriad of some of the best fiddlers in the country and have incredibly gorgeous unique, smooth, warm, and dark tones perfectly suited for American roots music and whatever else you like to play. This fiddle was made for Lydia Luce in 2010, and I bought it from the Violin Shop in Nashville in 2018. It’s No. 326. Experience the "cooper sound" that so many professional players love.
This instrument been played for years, eliminating the need for the long breaking in /opening up period a new instrument would have tonally.
The wait list for Jonathan Cooper violins is currently over a year and a half last i checked and a new instrument from him costs $18,500. His instruments will appreciate in value over time. I adore this instrument and played it on the last AJ Lee and Blue Summit record “I’ll Come Back,” as well as on many studio sessions over the past years.
The primary reason I am selling this is because a major hand injury and surgery during Covid has made it extremely hard for me to work with the slightly narrower string spacing of the 5 string fiddle, due to difficulty I have using my pinky like I used to. Recently I have gone back to playing a 4 string on stage.
I am excited to pass it on to a new owner who will love it and appreciate it as much as I have.
