This is a stunningly appealing time-capsule from the "Irish Stradivarius," Thomas Perry II. Serial #3427 (number on back and label), this instrument was constructed in the Dublin shop by Thomas, his son and son-in-law. It has a full, warm bottom end and a clear, prominent upper register (listen to video). It's a fine example of why Perry violins were prized, sought-after instruments back-in-the-day. The Perry has had several repairs over its 215 years. The neck has been secured from a break at the button. Since I've owned it, it's been meticulously inspected by 3 trusted violin luthiers who all confirm the repairs were done well and are holding solid. Having recently sealed a seam and adjusted the tailpiece, the violin needs no work. If you're looking to play and really enjoy Traditional Music, experience performing it on an instrument that was mostly likely new at the time the tunes were composed. It's as if it already knows them.
