This beautiful violin comes from the German workshops of the 1880s. The dark finish on the front highlights the gold-and-dark-brown chevron pattern on the edge. The finish on the back is slightly lighter to allow the Maggini-style decorative purfling on the back to show through. The violin has strong projection and a clear, bright voice with even tone across all strings. See linked video(s) for sound sample of a slow air and a jig.
Given a thorough once-over by a luthier. Newly set up with new pegs, bridge, and tailpiece with 4 fine tuners. Strung with new Thomastik Vision Solo Titanium strings. No cracks in the body or pegbox. Varnish shows nicks and scratches commensurate with age.
Violin will be shipped in a functional case.
