This beautiful old violin was probably made 1890's-1910. As to where, in a lot of ways it looks American, looks like some Boston made violins I have seen, like Squier. But it could well be a high end Markneukirchen fiddle. It has had a full life, as you can see written on its face, all the old cracks are tight and seem stable. The back is awesome! Being a violin wood guy, I always appreciate a nicely flamed back. I will include a 30 year old Aubert bridge blank and tailpiece.
I've a feeling it will sound excellent.
This violin got discussed on Maestronet, and many felt it was American, and its quality was noted.
I may set it up in a week or two and change the price.
