For sale by owner: This beautiful limited-edition violin was made by the John Cheng workshop for Shar Music, one of America’s most trusted string instrument dealers.
The violin sings with a pure and focused voice. It has a strong and resonant voice on the lower strings, and a clear soprano voice on the higher strings. There are no weaknesses in any of the strings, and the sound is clean and full all the way up the neck. It has excellent bow response, plenty of volume for solos, and does not lose timbre when played softly.
This special edition violin was made in 2008. Shar Music described this model violin as “a replica of an earlier period Stradivarius, originally made for the Grand Duke of Tuscany, is celebrated for its stylish and refined workmanship, expanding beyond the Amati influence. This new addition from the John Cheng workshop offers players a pure, beautiful tone with excellent projection and response.”“At the pinnacle of Chinese violin making are our John Cheng Workshop violins. Carefully crafted under the watchful eye of an award-winning, European-trained master luthier; John Cheng Workshop violins combine the finest, aged tonewoods from China and Europe, meticulous workmanship, expert varnish work and painstaking finishing. These beautiful violins are made entirely to our specifications and to the highest standards of playability. Final setup and tonal adjustment is performed at our world-class Ann Arbor shop to ensure that every John Cheng Workshop violin is an inspiration both to the hand and the ear.”
