The video of Royce playing this fiddle really tells the whole tale...video and photos at: dropbox.com/sh/npk3vcsnyfnqwxy...HGJa?dl=0
Re-voiced by Royce Burt in early 2017, this beautiful blonde c. 1910 re graduated fiddle displays tight grain on the belly and perfectly cut quartersawn back and sides. Royce rated this one a "ten out of ten". Pegs have been upgraded to Knilling Perfection Planetary pegs and an ivoroid tail pin. Currently strung with Prims including a Lisa E. In my care, this has been properly kept in a controlled 45% humidity environment. This old girl produces lots of volume; I bought this to get on top of banjo players who could not control themselves.
Price of $1200 includes shipping and insurance to lower 48 US locations at my expense. No Alaska, offshore or non-US sales. Be sure to view and listen closely to the video and the photos and know that you want this fine instrument. Royce Burt is one of the most respected luthiers in the country and this is one of his best instruments. It is unwise to ship an expensive, delicate and irreplaceable antique violin back and forth across the county due to buyer remorse...so, no return is offered on this item.

Good old Maggini copy with nice pegs and tailpiece. Tone is great for bluegrass or country. Original finish with one blemish on lower back probably from shoulder rests. The crack on the front has been repaired, it is NOT a sound post crack.

For Sale: Antique Geronimo Barnabetti c. 1900 One-piece back with Bold, Dark Tone - $1,850 USD
This fine antique French violin was made in the renowned Jérôme Thibouville-Lamy workshops circa 1900. The violin was created as part of the "Geronimo Barnabetti" series, which represented the best of their catalog. The top is made of two parts of a beautiful spruce, with regular grain lines widening towards the edges. The gorgeous back is a wonderful single piece of highly flamed maple, the curl descending from the left to the right. The ribs, neck and head are of the same maple, and all original. The traditional orange-brown colored varnish is entirely original and in amazingly perfect condition for its age.
The violin has been entirely revised and professionally set-up, including new rosewood heart-shaped pegs, a new rosewood tailpiece, chinrest, endpin, and a Despiau bridge. Thomastik Dominant strings. The violin is in an excellent condition, with just 3 worm holes on ribs and one on the neck of no concern.
On the inside back can be found the original label, "JTL, Géronimo Barnabetti, Paris". On the opposite side near the sound post one finds the fire branded letter "B", indicating that this instrument was considered among the best of the Barnabetti range. The violin is guaranteed 100% original and authentic.
Total length: 23 1/2" (Full-size)
Body length : 14 1/8"
Upper bouts : 6 1/4".
Lower bouts : 8".
The violin has a beautiful mature and deep sound, deep, with a lot of projection, easy to play and responsive, that will be a concert wonder.
This is the fifth Barnabetti I have owned - yes, I am a huge fan of this model - and it is the cleanest example of the workshop's reliably high quality craftsmanship. These violins routinely sell in the $3K-4K on the west coast.
The tone practically jumps out of the body, with a strong, dark, woody bottom end and a powerful, yet sweet upper register. It will be heard in a jam setting and the action makes it a pleasure to play. It is ideal for traditional genres like bluegrass, old-time, country, and western swing, but should also serve the classical soloist well. It will not disappoint.

Traditional Look
Distinctive Design
Wood Selection
Students at higher levels demand only the best when it comes to the instruments they play. Maestro violins are constructed from highly seasoned and aged tonewoods, then hand-selected for use in our instruments. You will find tight-grained tops and extremely figured, high-grade maples for the back, sides and necks. This fantastic tonewood, often curing for more than 100 years, is a Cremona exclusive and is perfect for making violins with an already "Aged" tone.
Construction
The production of all Maestro Series Violins is carried out in smaller workshops by our most skilled craftsmen. This allows for a limited number of master luthiers the time required to painstakingly hand-carve and graduate each instrument to unlock its hidden tonal possibilities.
Fingerboard and Fittings
Cremona uses only the highest quality hardwoods such as Hill-style boxwood and Grade-A ebony--in all the most popular and traditional shapes--for the fittings on every Maestro instrument. For the fingerboards, only the best, most highly polished ebony is used.
Attention to Detail
Cremona Maestro Series Violins - Master-level violins for the advanced student or aspiring pro!
Maestro Series Violin Outfits originated because of our desire to develop high-quality violin outfits specifically designed to meet the needs of students at higher levels of the educational community. We recognized early that as the student progresses and skill level improves, so should the quality of instruments. Regardless of the instrument series or quality level your customer requires, they will have the confidence knowing that they purchased an instrument of high quality and one that will not only play easy, sound and look fantastic--following in the traditional designs and specifications set forth by the Master Luthiers of long ago--but that will also inspire them to greater musical heights.

For Sale: Original Prague John Juzek - a TRUE Banjokiller - repaired - 780 EUR ($890.59 USD)
John Juzek Prague 4/4 Violin - a great fiddle
John Juzek4/4 VIOLIN original Prague era, end 1800s - early 1900s. A loud violin with a loud, deep and warm well balanced sound. Built with top class curly maple and spruce wood, and a one piece back. This violin has been professionally restorated at the top-blade around the bridge and soundpost, see pictures below. It has been setup with steel-strings and been regularly played for about 5 years now. The instrument has proven to be stable with medium Thomastik Spirocore steel strings, and stays perfectly in tune for longer periods of non activity: it's ready for some serious music. Has 2 violin makers check matters and clean the varnish; both found repairs done well and stable. One remark made was: you might not want to put a thicker fingerboard on it; it might influence the sound, the current fingerboard and tuning pegs are in a perfect condition.
Took it out on two gigs recently for the fun of it: it does the (acoustic) job; two Banjo's and a Dobro R.I.P. This 2018 hot 30-35 Celsius degree averagely warm August i took it with me to a Cajun festival in France; i did not need to tune it except for a very slight finetuner correction at some point. Additional kills: Two Acadians and one Martin Cajun accordion.
PLEASE NOTE: the violin will be dispatched seriously packed, with the bridge detached. IT's IMPORTANT TO CHECK if the SOUNDPOST is still in position and not fallen over, and if in doubt, CHECK this with a local Violinmaker BEFORE STRINGING IT UP.
!!!!!!!!!! The label indicated that this is a violin NOT TO BE confused with the USA factory workshop violins of the same name, but a real original from John Juzek himself. Probably made around the early 1900 - years. This type Juzek violin has normally a street value of about 3000 euro's if no repairs had been made.
Shipping can be done insured economy, in a free used case only meant for shipping, OR in an as new SKB brand case made of sturdy plastics and aluminum. For shipping safety i could add an as new aluminum and plastic hard-shell case made by SKB at an extra 80 Euro's. . Shipped this way the bridge can be left in place eventually. Only the strings will be slackened for safety reasons. There is no bow included, but i can provide one if required at costs. Pernambucco, epoxy or carbon, if stocked.
Returns are only possible when done immediately, after contact, and refunds when the instrument has been received in the same condition it left. Eventual refunds are without paid shipping, and return shipping costs are to be paid by buyer.

For Sale: J R Carlisle fiddle - $1 USD
J.R.Carlisle violin. Would like to sell. I have no idea of what to ask . Came in a deteriorated alligator case with a bow made by Saxony which I could not date.
Pictures show the makers trademark thumb print inside fiddle. Also have a letter by J R Carlisle addressed to the original buyer of the fiddle in TN. I have researched somewhat and that is why I have no idea about price. Thought maybe someone here could help me.
Thanks

Thanks for the many of you that have shared information. I have learned that only 75 hand built violins bear the J R Carlisle thumb print and these were made in the later years of his career. This fiddle has either ( mo 1244-A ) or (no 1244-A ) below his signature and thumb print . Don't know if it is a date or model no. I'm still digging, Im just slow. Thanks again for the many of you that have sent info.

For Sale: Arthur Conner Fiddle For Sale - $4,000 USD
Arthur Conner Fiddle made in 2009. I bought this fiddle from Arthur in 2010 and it has served me very well in many capacities. While I was a student at Shenandoah Conservatory, I played this violin in orchestra, quartet, pit orchestra, and for solo performances. I also played it for the seven years that I played fiddle in the band Lonesome Highway. In addition to being a great live fiddle, it is just as good for studio work. I have used this fiddle on many recording sessions for bands and solo artists. It has been my main axe for eight years, including the past year that I have been playing with Audie Blaylock and Redline. The reason that I am selling this fiddle is because I need a louder instrument. This instrument has great tone and good volume, but I am frequently in a one mic set up and need something that projects more. I have included photos of the instrument. If you are interested and would like a video sample of how the fiddle sounds, just send me a direct message here on Fiddle Hangout.

For Sale: Bob Kogut Violin with LR Baggs pickup, Case, Carbon Bow - $4,200 USD
Awesome fiddle! This is brand new, just purchased($4500 + $200 for custom LR baggs pickup), and hand picked for tone out of 6 of his fiddles. I am becoming more focused on classical studies, so I have decided to find a good home for this fiddle. It is a hard decision, since it's such a great instrument. It needs to be in the right player's hands.
I had a custom LR baggs pickup using a despiau 3 tree bridge($200) installed. Bob also re-planed the fingerboard to play comfortably. The fiddle is gorgeous, lightly antiqued golden-red color, nice leaf carvings on back corners. Western Big leaf maple one piece back and sides. Engelmann spruce top. High grade ebony pegs, wittner ultra tailpiece. Original bridge is included as well.
The tone is BIG. Lots of volume, very dark, woody, and round. I have owned several high end American made fiddles, and this is the best tone I have heard for a fiddler. Currently has Prim strings. They have been the best match for this fiddle.
If you are familiar with Bob's work, you know what this is. He is one of the nicest guys I have met and is extremely knowledgeable about getting a good fiddle tone.
Will include a nice oblong suspension case in excellent condition($150+) and a nice JT Jett carbon fiber bow($130).
Will ship free in continental US.

For Sale: Gianna's Violins Appalachian Folk Fiddle outfit - $1,250 USD
This fiddle was made by Steve Perry from Gianna's Violins. He starts with an imported Bulgarian white violin of high quality woods and the does all final graduations and adjustments before varnishing using traditional methods. This fiddle is setup with steel strings and a flatter bridge profile for bluegrass style playing. Instead of a serial #, the fiddles are named after things associated with the Appalachian mountains. This one is named LeConte after the third highest peak in the Great Smoky Mountains. The included bow is made by Arcos Brasil from pernambuco wood and has nickel frog fittings. the pictured case is also included along with a shoulder rest.
I used to frequent this forum and others regularly but had a neck injury that left me with no feeling in my fingertips and had to give up fiddle.
From Gianna's Violins website:
Gianna's Appalachian model instruments are well
known for their warmth, easy playing characteristics,
and surprisingly sweet tone. We've arranged for a
top notch maker to produce the new line of
Appalachians in his small shop.
The Appalachian™ captures the spirit of the
mountains, with a woody, clear, singing tone that
longs to echo in a mountain church or rise above a
dancing riffle high in the Smokies. Each is a unique
heirloom with a distinctive appearance and a unique
name in Gianna's own calligraphy. While this is our
most popular model for folk fiddlers, we find
bluegrass and country fiddlers, classical players of
all levels, and amateurs love these fiddles for their
easy playing characteristics, supple response,
substantial reserve, and beautiful sweet tone.
Our most popular model capturing the tone,
feel, and response of a fine vintage fiddle
Compact Guarneri del Gesu pattern in highly
flamed Carpathian maple
Skillfully hand-carved top, back, and scroll
Hand inlaid purfling
Available in three different setups: Classical,
Folk, or Steel-String Fiddle
Antiqued oil varnish finish
Professional level strings
European bridge (Despiau D or Aubert No. 7)
tuned and compensated
Fine rosewood fittings
Fiddlers at the inspired The Appalachian™ through their admiration
of the best of the European imports from the late
19th and early 20th Centuries. These violins have a
dark, rich, full tone and play very easily now that they
are broken in. The Appalachian™ is ideal for
players seeking smooth power and supple response,
but with the reserve power strong players seek. The
Appalachian™ is at home as a solo instrument or in
ensemble work.
Each Appalachian™ bears a unique Appalachian-
related name — for example “Spring Beauty” after
the wild flower — in Gianna’s own calligraphy. The
easy playing characteristics and mellow, rich tone
make this our most popular model. Both instruments
are entirely set up in our shop with hand split
soundpost, properly planed fingerboard, excellent
simple fittings, quality strings, and a well cut French
bridge.
