Excellent Mirecourt trade instrument. Shows signs of wear consistent with many years of playing. Light brown varnish is in excellent condition with signs of wear on the top plate and points as expected for a violin well played for many decades. Rich, warm tone with lots of power. Responds nicely to both light and heavy bow pressure. No cracks or open seams.
Superb setup just completed by Brandon Godman, owner of The Fiddle Mercantile in San Francisco and The Violin Shop in Nashville. As the former fiddler for Doyle Lawson and the current fiddler for Laurie Lewis, Brandon really knows how a fiddle should feel and does what I and many top Nashville players consider to be the best setup in the business. The $695 setup work included:
- Fitting new ebony tuning pegs
- Re-glue, plane, wet sand and seal fingerboard
- Fitting new endpin
- Cut and fit new Milo Stamm bridge
- Cut and fit new premium sound post
- Install Wittner Ultra fine tuner tailpiece
This fiddle is beautifully set up and ready to play.
